Houseboat interior

Fuck.yes.fuck.yes.

I went to a (very small) party on a boat that looked kind of like this once, except if anything even more awesome. It was illegally moored way out in like, Ealing (I’m not sure exactly, my west London geography is not that great) and it took us ages to get there and you had to cross a thin, bendy plank to get to the boat.

It looked like this but even more ramshackle and pirate-y and awesome, and there were these kids on the top deck who’d lit a fire and were playing instruments and it was pretty much paradise. I wish I’d met them now, so I actually might have made friends and stayed in contact with them, rather than when I was an awkward shy 14 year old. But I think I was probably more receptive to being overwhelmed and amazed and uncynical then, so maybe it’s a good thing. But yeah, it’s a really treasured memory for me because it was one of those ‘Fuck yeah, I’m doing something right’ moments.
